It supports two main types of transactions: SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT), which allows for one-time bank transfers between European accounts and is typically settled within one business day, and SEPA Direct Debit (SDD), which is used for recurring payments, allowing businesses to collect funds automatically from a customer’s bank account after obtaining a mandate (authorization). Additionally, SEPA Instant Credit Transfers process payments within seconds, providing near real-time transactions across participating banks. All SEPA payments use IBANs (International Bank Account Numbers) to ensure seamless and secure transfers.
Yes, SEPA supports recurring payments through SEPA Direct Debit (SDD). Businesses can collect payments automatically from a customer’s bank account after obtaining a mandate (authorization). This makes SEPA ideal for subscriptions and memberships.
SEPA payments, particularly SEPA Direct Debit, are not chargeback-free. Customers can request a refund within eight weeks for authorized transactions, and in cases of unauthorized transactions or fraud, they have up to 13 months to dispute the payment.
